Advocates for Youth

Advocates for Youth is dedicated to creating programs and advocating for policies that help young people make informed and responsible decisions about their reproductive and sexual health. Advocates provides information, training, and strategic assistance to youth-serving organizations, policy makers, youth activists, and the media in the United States and the developing world.

DeafQueer.org
This is "the place" to find the most comprehensive and accurate information about the Deaf Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community. DQRC was founded by Deaf Queer activist Dragonsani Renteria and launched in 1995. A multi-award winning website, DQRC averages more than 10,000 unique visits per month.

National Youth Advocacy Coalition 
The National Youth Advocacy Coalition is a social justice organization that advocates for and with young people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning (LGBTQ) in an effort to end discrimination against these youth and to ensure their physical and emotional well being.

Out Proud
OutProud, The National Coalition for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Youth, serves the needs of these young men and women by providing advocacy, information, resources and support. Our goal is to help queer youth become happy, successful, confident and vital gay, lesbian and bisexual adults. We provide outreach and support to queer teens just coming to terms with their sexual orientation and to those contemplating coming out. We let them know they're not alone by helping them find local sources of friendship and support. We believe in effecting change at a grass-roots level by catalyzing and fostering the development of a new generation of queer youth activists who will take positions at the forefront of our civil rights and social movements.

Sexuality Information & Education Council of the United States
The Sexuality Information and Education Council of the U.S. (SIECUS) is a national, nonprofit organization which affirms that sexuality is a natural and healthy part of living. Incorporated in 1964, SIECUS develops, collects, and disseminates information, promotes comprehensive education about sexuality, and advocates the right of individuals to make responsible sexual choices.

Young Gay America
is a long-term research project / road trip adventure dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ youth. We aim to educate and inform LGBTQ youth about their importance in society by placing their individual stories in an international forum; to foster and encourage the exchange of ideas by queer youth on issues pertinent to queer youth (to allow their voices to be heard); and to promote positive self-image and sense of belonging.

Youth Resource's Peer Educators gives young people a chance to E-mail trained young people directly with their questions or concerns.

Beyond Chromosomes
This is an online forum run by the volunteers of the Berkeley Free Clinic to help raise awareness about community health and HIV prevention. By far the best way to learn about the obstacles and oppression faced by transgendered people is to hear it in their own words. This forum provided an opportunity for four members of the East Bay Transgender Task Force to present their diverse perspectives on the legal and health issues faced by transgender population, with special reference to HIV prevention.

FTM International
FTM stands for Female-to-Male. This site is the internet contact point for the largest, longest-running educational organization serving FTM transgendered people and transsexual men. It is powered by a diverse group that comes from different backgrounds, including every imaginable sexual orientation, and are multicultural. Ages range from teens to 70s and include persons who are just beginning to examine gender issues as well as persons who have been dealing with them for many years.
(IFGE), founded in 1987, is a leading advocate and educational organization for promoting the self-definition and free expression of individual gender identity. IFGE is not a support group, it is an information provider and clearinghouse for referrals about all things which are transgressive of established social gender norms. IFGE maintains the most complete bookstore on the subject of transgenderism available anywhere. It also publishes the leading magazine providing reasoned discussion of issues of gender expression and identity, including crossdressing, transsexualism, FTM and MTF issues spanning health, family, medical, legal, workplace issues and more.

Intersex Society of North America
The Intersex Society of North America (ISNA) is devoted to systemic change to end shame, secrecy, and unwanted genital surgeries for people born with an anatomy that someone decided is not standard for male or female. An orginization working to end the stigma of folks who are born intersex (formarly referred to as hermaphrodite.)

National Gay & Lesbian Task Force: Trans work

The struggle to establish civil rights protections for transgendered people cannot be separated from the struggle to win freedom and equality for gay, lesbian, and bisexual people. This is the link to NGTLF's transgender work for equal rights for all genders.

The National Transgender Advocacy Coalition

The National Transgender Advocacy Coalition works proactively to reform societal attitudes and the law to achieve equal rights for the transgendered and other gender diverse individuals.
Crossdressers, transvestites, transsexuals, transgenderists, their families, and friends. A website full of publications, online chat forums and numerous resources about everything trans.

TransFamily
TransFamily is a support group for transgendered and transsexual people, their parents, partners, children, other family members, friends, and supportive others. We provide referrals, literature, and over-the-phone information on all transgender issues. Although our meetings are held in Cleveland, Ohio, the Internet has enabled us to extend helping hands to transgendered individuals and their famlies across the globe.

TransGenderCare
The TransGenderCare Site has been made available for are those who are looking for a better understanding of male-to-female gender transitioning. It is our hope that this understanding will result in better, more knowledgeable solutions for the transgendered individual. This site provides health information for not only transgendered individual, but as well, for other interested parties such as friends and loved ones, and those professionals who wish to utilize their archive of data.

Transgender Health Action Coalition
The Transgender Health Action Coalition (T-HAC) formed in 1996 as a result of the forum "Bridges to Coalition - A Community Forum on Transgender Issues." The "Bridges" forum revealed that transgendered people lacked access to quality medical and mental health services regardless of which segment of the community they were from. Thus T-HAC was formed to try to address this tremendous problem.

Trans Health Forum Transgender
(TG or transsexual) refers to people who for various reasons identify with a gender identity that differs from their original physiological and psychological status. "Transitioning" to another gender may involve dressing and living as a different gender and adopting an identity associated with the opposite biological sex, without surgery.
 
Gender Education and Advocacy (GEA) is a national organization focused on the needs, issues and concerns of gender variant people in human society. We seek to educate and advocate, not only for ourselves and others like us, but for all human beings who suffer from gender-based oppression in all of its many forms.

Sexually Transmitted Infections information you need to know. STIs (formerly known as STDs, or Sexually Transmitted Dieases) are infections that can be bacterial or viral. Some go away, others stay for life. Educate yourself, as a young person or as a parent at this website.

Parents & Family Support
PFLAG Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays (PFLAG) is a national non-profit organization with over 200,000 members and supporters and almost 500 affiliates in the United States. This vast grassroots network is cultivated, resourced and serviced by the PFLAG national office.

Founded in 1978, Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) is New England’s leading legal rights organization dedicated to ending discrimination based on sexual orientation, HIV status and gender identity and expression. Providing litigation, advocacy, and educational work in all areas of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender civil rights and the rights of people living with HIV, GLAD has a full-time legal staff and a network of cooperating attorneys across New England.
Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, the transgendered, and people with HIV or AIDS through impact litigation, education, and public policy work.
